Chabad of Thailand was among the very first foreign aid organizations to offer help, solace, and comfort to tsunami survivors, Jewish and non-Jewish alike.

From our forward operations center in Phuket and our regular Chabad Houses in Bangkok, Chaing Mai, Samui Island and our affiliate in Mumbai India our Rabbi's and volunteers worked to identify bodies, comfort the bereaved, visit the injured, feed the hungry and connect the missing with their loved ones and families.

Chabad of Thailand together with partners initiated a basket of programs that were designed to help the victims, especially children, recover emotionally from the trauma, provide suitable short and long-term living conditions, and sustainable development programs providing victims with the ability to resume control over their own lives.

Our goal was to have people feel pride in their own achievements in helping themselves and one another. For a description of these projects and programs click here

With the goal of self-sufficiency in mind, Chabad of Thailand aims to continue, expand and implement new programs whose objectives are self sufficiency and sustainable development.

We aim to give the some of the necessary tools to create a thriving economy and independent recovery.
